Enabling Access Sites

What has worked for me since the last session?

I finished my esports website. Making the resources visible to students, whanau and the community. I would like to storyboard the planning of the site using the Jamboard tool. I have received some positive feedback, but need to receive feedback from the users. I used the colour pick to match the colours for the theme.

What has worked for me since the last time we met?

I learnt about creating conditional pathways based on the answer selected in Google forms. This was particularly useful for me to gather student voice to find out more about how a student learns best (Visual, Kinesthetic and Auditory) Students Voice form.

I learnt that sharing 'live' is beneficial for caregivers and the community to actually see what is going on in real-time by sharing. I sent an email to our filming club leaders to give them an idea and opportunity of filming the assemblies live. There may be further implications involved, however, this is a work in progress. 

I really enjoyed mapping out my maps of all the places I visited in the world!

What hasn’t worked (or made sense)?

What do you need help with?

I am having trouble with my conditional formatting, so need to practice using this more in Google Sheets.

• Have the default of having this as invisible. So we need to know what doesn't need to be visible?

• By providing sites and Hapara you can not lose it and work can be accessed from anywhere
• Visible to parents and whanau
• Accessible, Available and Advance (Before it is needed and before the deadlines)
• Visible to Teachers using Hapara 
• Class Blog to share the learning journey once it has happened
• Hapara was specifically designed for the Malaikalani schools
• Reset student passwords in Hapara and have students logged back into learning in a couple of minutes instead of waiting for I.T.

Teachers can become one of these teachers and applications do go out later on in the year.

In our digital bubbles take a look at some multi modal learning Sites from slide 19 on

Investigating websites that are multi-modal sites. I looked at a Science website that looked visually appealing so I decided to explore the content: 

• Great images large and clear
• White background
• Looks creative but not messy
• Videos, images and text are accessible to a range of learners who learn best in different ways
• The theme of each site is distinctly personal to the subject and teacher making it easily recognisable when students visit each time. This is the example of the shop front and creating a wow factor!

I have used Google slides and embedded them into my blog. Something else I will be doing is to use the skills around infographics that I learnt and put onto my post last week, for my students as a visual cue for expectations.

Analysing Blog Data - Slides

This data was taken from a blog and then inputted into a Google sheet to show the number of visits by Year and Month. The Column Bar chart settings embedd code was copied and pasted into the HTML code of this blog. If the bar chart is updated with new data it will be shown the updated data on the bar chart below.

We used the data gathered from a Google form of all the places our DFI cohort dreamed of visiting. This was then uploaded onto My maps.

 

This is a great way to show the students of my visits around the world with a view to inspire them on getting a good education as the possibilities are endless.

What has worked for me since the last time we met?

I have applied voice audio to record my meeting notes on Google docs. I have changed the headings and formatted them on my planning slides for all my classes. Camilla Cameron from Kootuitui Papakura provided me with the blog template with all the widgets. I edited them by adding extra links into the navigation bar menu for my professional development to date. I have shared my Blog with Jeremy Ferguson. I have also shared the hyperlinked poster with my colleagues for them to send me a link that could be used by students who want to sign up for all the extra-curricular clubs at our Kura.

I want to know what we as teachers should be putting up on our Google Sites. I have most of my resources and assessments on Hapara. My Hapara is embedded into my site, so I just get the students to use Hapara. I am keen to know what others are doing?

What did I learn that could be used with my learners? Students can embed video into their blog by copying the embed code into the HTML script in Blogger. This can also be resized to fit as required by changing the values for width and height.

What does the Learn look like at YOUR school? There are teachers who are familiar with the Manaiakalani kaupapa and pedagogy. For teachers who are not familiar, this blog will be shared with colleagues as a resource to find tools, tips and tricks. What did I learn that could improve my workflow as a professional? The one thing that I feel will help me improve my workflow is "Taming the Tabs". Grouping tabs by right-clicking on a tab. At the start of the lesson, I get organised by opening all the tabs I need and then when I try to find the correct one, I cannot read the entire tab label, so I scroll through the tabs until I can find the tab that I am looking for. By using OneTab, I can now put a label for each class and open one tab for each of my classes that will list all the websites and cloud resources. This can be downloaded from here.
